Daniel Phillip Savage, 85, of Argos, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Dan was born to the late Stephen and Ruth (Mahler) Savage in Plymouth, Indiana. He graduated from Culver High School in 1957. He furthered his education at Manchester College on a football/baseball academic scholarship. After college he proudly served his country in the United States Army. After his military duty he came home, bought a farm, and married the love of his life, Karen Jan Wagoner. Together they spent just shy of 60 beautiful years together.
In addition to being a farmer, he was a pipe insulator by trade and worked for Local 75 for 34 years before retiring.
As much as he loved his union work, his proudest job came after he retired, when he became a frandpa to his triplets. He spent his days reading stories, changing diapers, teaching them the love of sports (never miss a free throw). He shared his love of the Cubs, Bears, and IU, how to ride a bike, dive, and his favorite, how to fish. He had a kind soothing voice and a loving heart.
Dan was a member of the American Legion and the Odd Fellows.
Dan is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Jan, his children: Phil Savage, Natalie Savage of Culver, Indiana, and Tammy (Bill) Lineberry of Argos, Indiana (Dan thought of Billy as a son for the past 31 years), grandchildren: Mason and Madison Lineberry of Argos, Mariah Lineberry of Lima, Ohio, Makena Lineberry of Muncie, Luke and Eland Savage, and the light of his life for the last 5 years, great grandsons Cahzi and Banks Lineberry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Overmyer.
Dan's family would like to thank Dr. Holm for the home visits he made so that Dan could remain at home to pass away peacefully comforted by his family the way he wanted.
No services are planned at this time.
